‘A City of Professions’ is positioned to take part in the current debate on the present and future of professions, an inquiry sparked by Daniel and Richard Susskind in their book ‘The Future of the Professions: How Technology Will Transform the Work of Human Experts’ (2015). Echoed by psychologist Howard Gardner of Harvard University, at its core the debate is a questioning of the future of our society. By moving closer to Gardner and taking distance from the Susskinds, this book proposes a radical regeneration of the whole of the professional world. While focusing on the connection that professions have with cities, it also promotes the new social pact currently emerging.
