The new Yearbook of Landscape Architecture and Urbanism in the Netherlands provides insight into the design of our environment in twenty projects that are as timely as they are remarkable. Themes in this edition include: renewal and transformation of 20th-century city districts; softening of inner cities and research into system change. The ‘long run’ is also discussed: projects that are created with a strong sense of consistency over a long period of time. Finally, there is a focus on the connecting lines in the urban realm achieved through good design. Essays and a portrait complete the selection. The Yearbook was compiled by an independent committee of professionals in collaboration with the editors of the Dutch magazine Blauwe Kamer.
