This newest piece of the Netherlands - its landscape, urban settlement design and architecture - has been designed with care and attention. An impressive approach that largely leaves the shaping of the landscape to nature. By realising Marker Wadden, client Natuurmonumenten has taken the first step in restoring the lake's ecology, which deteriorated rapidly after the construction of the Houtribdijk (the connection between Enkhuizen and Lelystad) in 1976.
