Jordi Ballesta, photographer and researcher in landscape studies, developed the exhibition and book ‘Archiver la Vote Rapide' over 18 months. It features the Pierre-Mathis urban highway that stretches seven kilometres across Nice, France. Combing through nearly eight decades of documents from municipal archives, Ballesta presents a collection that details the preparation, design, and method of construction of the highway. While it is seen as both a scar and a major monument of the local landscape, the artist asks readers to consider the infrastructure as a civilisational sculpture that allows mobility, as well as its proximity to, and impact on the people who live right up against the highway.
