In a world where information is freely available online, the role of libraries needs to be rethought. The new public library in Oslo is an excellent example of this. In contrast to the traditional conception of libraries as archives, this imposing building by the two architectural firms Lundhage and Atelier Oslo represents a radical interpretation of the library as a living place to meet and linger in a new kind of public space.
