The historically classical list of world religions was compiled by Western scholars, and was based on the religions' perceived importance, which could be either theological or worldly. As these scholars became more exposed to the world's other religions outside Judaism and Christianity, this list of world religions grew from a list of three religions (Christianity, Judaism and paganism) to the following 12 world religions in alphabetical order: Baha' Buddhism Christianity Chinese folk religion Confucianism Hinduism Islam Jainism Judaism Sikhism Taoism and Zoroastrianism. Books are about architecture, interiors and design.
